New Artistic Director

Stage Left Theatre is delighted to announce Bobbi Masters as our new Artistic Director. She has worked both in front of the house and backstage throughout her career in theater, and those roles have given her the insight, qualifications and well-earned expertise in preparation for this role. One of the guiding principles at Stage Left is to create and share artistic visions which inspire debate and curiosity within the audience. “I believe that the best theatre challenges us and provokes thought - there’s nothing quite like that spirited discussion after a great show," says Masters. She is looking forward to growing our ensemble of artists and creating a space to inspire others to generate bold and diverse new works. Board of Director Angelique Sallas says "the board couldn't be more thrilled and we could not have made a better choice in Bobbi."

As an artist and educator, Bobbi brings passion for everything the theater entails in her new position. She has been serving as Stage Left’s Literary Manager, where she was responsible for the creation of a new monthly play reading series. She is looking forward to growing our ensemble of artists, and creating a space to inspire others to generate bold and diverse new works.

Bobbi has directed plays at theaters around the nation such as No Strings Theatre Company in Las Cruces, NM (THE BALD SOPRANO) and Kitchen Dog Theatre in Dallas, TX (HAPPY DAYS), where she also served as an artistic associate. Her New York Off-Off Broadway credits include work with EBE Ensemble, Iron Jaw Productions, Theatre Rats, and Theatre for the New City. She also previously served as Resident Director at Coffee Black Productions in New York City, where she worked extensively on new plays and served in various capacities as an Artistic Associate at Milk Can Theatre in New York City. She also teaches at City Colleges of Chicago.
