Script Submissions

If you believe you have a play that fits our artistic mission to raise debate on political and social issues, and would like to submit your work for production in our mainstage season, LeapFest, or our new play development program Downstage Left, please follow the directions below.

Stage Left does not accept unsolicited full manuscripts from individuals for production or LeapFest consideration.

We do accept them directly from literary agents.

If you would like to submit your play for production in Stage Left's mainstage subscription season, or the annual new play festival LeapFest, please send us the following materials. Should your materials interest us, we will contact you and ask for the complete script.

Please note: If your play has not yet been produced, we will consider it both for production in our season and for inclusion in LeapFest unless you note a specific preference.

- Cover Letter
- Resume
- One page synopsis
- 10-page excerpt
- Supporting Materials: Any other information you feel may be helpful, including letters of recommendation from Artistic Directors or Literary Managers of other professional theatres.
- Reliable email address (or street address if you have no email)

Founded in 1995, Downstage Left is a unique, customizable program designed to provide playwrights tools and support to move their project from concept to production.

The Downstage Left calendar is divided into three four-month "rounds," each of which has a seperate application deadline.
